The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program is a federal financial aid program designed to provide students opportunities to earn money necessary to assist with educational expenses, while also gaining valuable work experience on campus.

学生 work study is a vital part of the Benedictine campus. Please read below for information on how to obtain campus employment. You may view a listing of available work study opportunities and submit applications for positions 在乌鸦区上.

How do I know if I am I eligible for Work Study?

Eligibility is based upon U.S. Department of Education guidelines, beginning with determining a student’s Need from the information derived from the student’s need from the information derived from the student's Free Application for Federal 学生 援助 (FAFSA). If eligible, Work Study will be included on the Official 金融援助 Offer Letter found on your 乌鸦区 账户.

如果我是 eligible for Work Study, but still would like to work on campus?

Federally eligible Work Study students receive first priority consideration for open positions. However, all students may apply for available positions on campus through the 乌鸦区 Work Study Application.

此外, Aladdin 校园 Dining, our campus dining services partner, hires students for a variety of positions regardless of Work Study eligibility. To apply, contact the manager through the campus dining website.

Do I get paid or is it a credit against my tuition?

Work Study is 不 a credit against your tuition. You must work to earn this funding. Work study payroll is paid biweekly via direct deposit and the funds are available for your personal expenses.

Am I guaranteed an on-campus job if I am eligible?

No, we can不 guarantee a job for every Work Study eligible student. 学生s are responsible for applying for positions and scheduling interviews with the supervisor.

Which departments hire Work Study students?

Most departments and offices on campus hire Work Study students. The list of departments with current open positions can be found on the Work Study Application. Keep in mind that academic departments frequently reserve positions for sophomore through senior-level students who are majoring in those disciplines.

After being hired, you need to complete a new employee packet, which is available in the Business Office (St. Benedict Hall, 326 & 332).

The new employee packet includes the following:

  • 学生 就业 Eligibility Form
  • Form W-4: Federal Withholding
  • Form I-9: 就业 Verification
    • As well as approved form(s) of Identification from the list on the back of the form
  • Form K-4: State of Kansas Withholding
  • Direct Deposit form with voided check

General Information about 学生 就业:

  • Work Study positions are typically 3-5 hours per week and pay the federal minimum wage of $7.每小时25美元.
  • Paychecks will be deposited directly into the checking 账户 obtained from your voided check. 学生s are paid on a biweekly schedule.
  • Time sheets are maintained electronically within the ADP Payroll System. 学生s are responsible for entering their time worked. A supervisor must always verify the hours worked within the ADP Payroll System prior to payment.
